I’m so old, I can remember when phones were phones and cameras were cameras.
Then of course the mobile phone started to come with a built-in camera and as the quality of the cameras steadily improved, they started to disrupt the camera market. In situations where it wasn’t convenient to take two devices, which one would we leave behind?
3G networks hastened the demise further because we could take a photo and upload it immediately to social media.
In some ways it’s amazing that it’s taken so long, but the camera manufacturers are waking up to this disruption and introducing 3G into some of the camera range giving the quality of a high-end camera with the convenience of a camera built into a 3G compatible phone.
